DAVAO CITY — Tourists and locals can look forward to safer travel as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) improves a critical access road in Barangay Kanao-Kanao, Bonifacio, Misamis Occidental.
The ongoing ₱125-million project involves the rehabilitation and expansion of a 1.40-kilometer, four-lane road connecting Bonifacio and Don Victoriano municipalities.
According to the DPWH Regional Office 10 report, the project is divided into three sections: Section 1 (76.40 meters) and Section 2 (402.37 meters) are undergoing rehabilitation, while Section 3 (928.28 meters) is being widened.
Located in a landslide-prone area, the project includes essential upgrades such as retaining walls, lined canals, and stone masonry to address past issues of landslides and slope collapse.
These improvements aim to reduce transportation costs for farmers and enhance the safety of daily commutes.
Currently 93 percent complete, the project is expected to ensure safer travel, lower delivery costs for agricultural products, and improve access to social and health services.
