DAVAO CITY — Three people were killed while two others were wounded when a public utility vehicle and a truck collided in Barangay Lantay, Pangantucan, Bukidnon, on December 19, 2024, claimed the lives of three individuals and injured two others.

The Bukidnon police identified the deceased victims as: Argon Bangit, 58, the driver of the PUV van, Sonia Bangit, 47, a passenger and resident of Barangay Barandias, Pangantucan, and a minor female passenger, also from Barangay Barandias, Pangantucan.

The injured individuals include the truck driver, identified as alias Bryan, and his helper, alias Sayson, 20, of Barangay Adtuyon, Pangantucan. Both were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Pangantucan Police conducted an initial investigation and revealed that the PUV van was traveling from Maramag to Kalilangan, while the truck was heading in a different direction. Upon reaching Barangay Lantay, the truck’s brake system allegedly malfunctioned. This caused the truck to lose control and collide with the van, pushing it backward approximately 60 meters.

Provincial Director of Police Colonel Juvit Culaway reminded all drivers to ensure their vehicles are in good condition and prioritize their physical well-being before driving to prevent similar accidents.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision to determine further details and prevent future incidents.
