Tensions erupt in Davao City land dispute: Police officer injured

DAVAO CITY – A tense altercation broke out yesterday, January 6, 2025, in Purok 47, San Roque Bangkal, Barangay Talomo Proper, Davao City, where a group of 300 construction workers fencing a disputed plot of land was attacked by angry individuals.

According to a report from Talomo Police Station 3, the dispute escalated when rocks and bottles were thrown at the workers. Amid the chaos, a gun was fired by an individual identified as alias “Orak,” who fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Police responded to the scene but encountered resistance from the agitated crowd. PSMS Louie Cuison, a responding officer, sustained minor injuries during the incident.

Authorities have since maintained a presence in the area to monitor the situation and prevent further escalation. Investigations are underway to locate and apprehend the person responsible for firing the gun and to ensure accountability.

The police urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with the ongoing investigation to resolve the dispute peacefully.
