The confiscated firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices were seized during the holiday season as part of Republic Act No. 7183 enforcement, which regulates the sale, manufacture, distribution, and use of firecrackers and other pyrotechnic devices in the Philippines.
DAVAO CITY—The Zamboanga Sibugay Police, on January 7, destroyed approximately ₱19,415 worth of confiscated firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.
The destruction activity was done in coordination with the local government unit (LGU) of Ipil; the items were burned at a landfill in Barangay Lumbia, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.
The operation, led by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of Sibugay, was carried out with assistance from the RCSU-SAC Sibugay, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO/MENRO), and the Provincial Medical Team. Media members were present to witness the proper destruction of the confiscated items.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Police reminded the public to follow firecracker laws and prioritize safety during celebrations. Authorities also encouraged residents to report any illegal activities involving firecrackers to prevent accidents and maintain peace in the community.
