DAVAO CITY – The provincial government of Misamis Occidental has achieved notable progress in its economic and social development this year, with the successful implementation of the “5Ms” framework playing a key role in driving these advancements.
Governor Henry Oaminal highlighted that the core values of the 5Ms—Matinahuron (Respectful), Matinud-anon (Truthful), Matinabangon (Helpful), and Mahigugmaon (Loving)—have been instrumental in uniting the province and fostering collaboration across various sectors.
“We have made significant strides this year in strengthening our communities, growing our economy, and improving the quality of life for all Misamisnons,” Governor Oaminal remarked.
One of the standout practices under the 5Ms is the focus onMatinahuron (Respect), which has guided the province in creating an inclusive environment. This value has been reflected in the comprehensive healthcare initiatives, such as the free hospitalization program that has benefited over 42,000 individuals. Additionally, the Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center, which is 70 percent complete and expected to open next year, embodies the province’s commitment to healthcare access for all.
The 5Ms framework has also been pivotal in infrastructure development, with the province investing over PHP3 billion in multipurpose facilities, road concreting, and water systems, contributing to economic growth and enhanced public services. These developments align with the value of Matinabangon (Helpful), as they aim to improve residents’ livelihoods by improving the province’s infrastructure, thereby stimulating sectors like tourism, healthcare, and education.
The Asenso Rice Farmers Full Assistance program has been a major agricultural success, improving rice production with an impressive average yield of 5.3 metric tons per hectare. This effort reflects the value of Matinud-anon (Truthful), as it ensures transparency and accountability in supporting the agricultural sector.
The Asenso Pamilya: One Family, One Professional program also exemplifies Mahigugmaon (Loving), with 2,862 beneficiaries, 343 of whom have graduated from various professional courses. This initiative shows the province’s commitment to uplifting families through education and professional development, fostering a love for community progress.
“These initiatives showcase the strength of unity and collective effort,” Governor Oaminal emphasized, reaffirming the province’s dedication to improving the lives of its residents. The continued success of Misamis Occidental is a testament to the positive impact of the 5Ms framework in driving sustainable and inclusive development.-PR
