DAVAO CITY — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will implement the nationwide gun ban starting January 12, 2025, until June 11, 2025, in line with the National and Local Elections.

Davao City Police Director Colonel Hansel Marantan has ordered all precinct commanders of the city police to ensure the law is followed.

Marantan said the City Police will establish mobile checkpoints at any given time.

The gun ban is a crucial measure designed to prevent election-related violence and guarantee that all candidates and voters can participate in the electoral process without fear or intimidation.

Under Comelec Resolution No. 11067, no person shall bear, carry, or transport firearms or other deadly weapons in public places—this includes any building, street, park, private vehicle, or public conveyance—even if they are licensed to possess or carry such firearms. The only exceptions are those who have received written authorization from the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

The gun ban will remain in effect until June 11, 2025, with the goal of maintaining peace and security throughout the election period. Authorities are calling on everyone to do their part in upholding democracy, ensuring that each vote counts, and contributing to a peaceful election season.

Marantan encourages Davao City residents to be aware of the enforcement of the gun ban and cooperate with authorities to ensure a secure environment for all voters and candidates.
