DAVAO CITY (August 13) – The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) announced on Monday that more than 300 personnel will be deployed to ensure public safety during the Kadayawan Festival.

CDRRMO Head Alfredo Baloran said the team will include trained barangay medical responders who will handle emergencies within their respective communities. For major festival events, some of these responders will be reassigned to support large-scale activities in the city.

To maintain readiness, the office has coordinated with repair shops to prioritize fixing emergency vehicles should any mechanical issues arise during the festivities. “We have enough vehicles, and our resources will be boosted by the Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMCs), including patient transport units and additional responders,” Baloran said.

He also reminded festival-goers to prepare for high heat indices during the day and possible localized thunderstorms or rain showers in the evenings. An advance weather forecast has been shared with organizers of the street and float parades to help them adjust schedules and advise performers accordingly.

Baloran noted that weather conditions may change, urging Dabawenyos to stay updated by following official CDRRMO advisories on their social media platforms.
