Mexican triathlon star Mauricio Mendez wins IRONMAN 2018 Davao

Davao City. Philippines — Mexican triathlon star Mauricio Mendez bested hundreds  of participants to win the IRONMAN  2018 Davao .

At 10:03 in the morning Sunday, March 25, 2018, the 23 year old triathlon star  reached the finishing line at the Azuela Cove Soccer Field in Lanang, Davao City.

Mauricio achieved first big successes on an international level (5th Place XTERRA World Championship 2014, 3rd Place IRONMAN 70.3 Monterrey 2015 and 3rd Place XTERRA US Series 2014).

Mauricio is the youngest Xterra world champion, he was second in the Xterra World Championships last year.

Mauricio, the eldest of three brothers, wants to be a Health Coach.

At age 10, Mauricio was already burning competitive fires, he finished second at an IronKids Triathlon in Valle de Bravo.

In one of his interviews Mauricio was quoted by RunMx report saying “I want to be the best version of myself. I want to be someone and I want to give and help through sport. Currently I am studying to become a Health Coach. I have ideas about a new approach of triathlon that I would love to implement together with my Dad.”-Newsline.ph
