MANILA— AP Renewables Inc. (APRI), a subsidiary of energy company Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), recently passed its surveillance audit for the Integrated Management System (IMS), recording zero non-conformities by auditors for the sixth year in a row.
APRI received new certificates that cover systems on quality management (ISO 9001:2015), environmental management (ISO 14001:2015), and occupational health and safety management (ISO 45001:2018). These were issued after TÜV Rheinland Philippines’ simultaneous audit from October 17 to 18 across APRI’s geothermal power plant sites in Tiwi and MakBan, plus its corporate office in Taguig.
IMS in organizations integrates all aspects of their systems and processes into one centralized framework. This enables them to have a seamless and comprehensive overall management system to improve their performance, effectively manage their risks, and consistently meet customer needs, among others.
TÜV external auditors also noted nine positive observations, that included APRI receiving the SHAPES Corporate Safety and Health Excellence Bronze Award from the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Safety Seal No. R05-SS-UTLS-00053-R1 Award from the Department of Employment (DOLE) last April 2022. These awards are given to organizations for their excellence in implementing health and safety programs in the workplace.
APRI was also recognized by its host communities for implementing CSR initiatives like the successful conduct of “Bike N’ BeCool: Give a Bike Program and the Adopt-A-Health Center Program.
“I am quite impressed with APRI’s organizational skills most especially their monitoring files and systems used for project management and compliances,” said TÜV Rheinland Lead Auditor Grace Balobalo. “These certifications signify their efforts to ensure the best quality of service to their customers.”
With 12 opportunities for improvement noted, APRI President and Chief Operating Officer Jeffrey Estreall said that they would continue to work towards becoming a world-class organization by enhancing its processes and ensuring its management system’s effectiveness.
“APRI’s success of securing Zero Non-conformity record for another year shows our determination to improve our policies and procedures that will help us provide better services to our customers and to the community,” said Estrella.
