DAVAO CITY —– The 34th Infantry ‘Reliable’ Battalion of 6th Infantry Division installs new Battalion Commander in change of command ceremony held in Barangay Salunayan, Midsayap, North Cotabato on July 26, 2021.

Brigadier General Eduardo Gubat, Assistant Division Commander of 6ID, presided over the traditional military ceremony where Lt. Col. Edgardo Vilchez Jr. relinquished his post to Lt. Col. Rey Rico as the Reliable’s new Commanding Officer.

Lt. Col. Vilchez Jr. served the 34IB for one year and five months (February 25, 2022 until July 26, 2022) where during his tenure he also subdued many members of lawless terrorist groups, supported law enforcement operations and strengthened the community support program operation which paved the way for more support from the Local Government Unit and stakeholders.

In his message, Brig. Gen. Gubat outlined the accomplishments of 34IB in various security operations through the leadership of the former Commanding Officer. He urged the incoming battalion commander to do equal or exceed what his predecessor did.

He also calls on the members of the 34IB to support the plans and programs of their newly sitting officer.

“The Change of Command Ceremony manifests the vibrancy and dynamism of the organization. I congratulate the two outstanding men of the hour who have proven their exceptional leadership in the premiere service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.”, Brig. Gen. Gubat said.-PR
