Army’s 6th Division renews commitment to peace agreement

DAVAO CITY — The leadership of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army renewed its commitment to the peace agreement between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) as it commemorated the decade-long signing of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), held at Camp Darapanan, Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao del Norte, yesterday (March 27, 2024).

Major General Alex S. Rillera PA, Commander of 6ID/Joint Task Force Central, said the command reiterated the 6ID’s full support for the peace process as he emphasized the role of the stakeholders to achieve the goals of the peace agreement.

The official likened the challenges in attaining peace to a large snake, while all participants in the peace process are akin to an ant colony, saying even if ants are tiny creatures they can subdue a large snake when they plan and working together and form a giant alliance to win the enemy.

“The MILF, the BARMM, the National Government, and the whole Filipino people, we are all the ants, that if we will be united then, we can attain our common aspiration towards peace, progress, and prosperity not only in the Bangsamoro Region but in the whole Filipino Nation,” said Maj. Gen. Rillera.

The 10th anniversary commemoration of CAB was held at Camp Darapanan was attended by BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, Al Haj; Presidential Peace Adviser Sec. Carlito G. Galvez Jr.; Major General Cesar B. Yano (Ret)  – Chairman of the Government Peace Implementing Panel; Brigadier General Nasser P. Lidasan – Chair GPH Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH); Director Joel Q. Mamon – Head of the Combined Secretariat of the GPH Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) and GPH AHJAG; Teresita Quintos-Deles – Former Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process; Prof. Miriam Coronel-Ferrer – Former Chairperson of the GPH Peace Panel, and Hon. Gov. Emmylou “Lala” Taliño-Mendoza – Governor of the Province of North Cotabato, among many others.
