DAVAO CITY — In an effort to provice potable water to some 5,000 residents in the municipality of Hadji Muhtamad in Basilan province, the Bangsamoro Government has started the construction of water desalination facility.
In a press statement, the Bangsamoro government said the project which was inaugurated on August 6, will serve the residents of said town and the nearby areas.
Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo, the interior minister said “10K Hydra Sea Water Desalination Plant System capable of serving 5,000 people per day is planned for the town, costing ₱15 million, and another two-storey Municipal Hall, costing ₱30 million is underway.”
Sinarimbo described the town as ‘waterless municipality’ in need of intervention, such as the implementation of a water desalination system, to provide residents with easy access to potable water.”
Haji Muhtamad, is a beautiful municipality in Basilan that did not have a permanent Municipal Government center in the last 16 years. “We are delighted to partner with its very dynamic young Mayor, the Hon. Arsina Nanoh,” the Minister said.
“The municipality has great potential for tourism being proximate to Isabela, Basilan and the City of Zamboanga. It boasts of beautiful beaches and clean blue sea,” Sinarimbo claimed.
Mayor Arsina Kahing-Nanoh thanked the leadership of the Basangmoro for the projects they provided which according to her will greatly help in alleviating the plight of her people.
