Bangsamoro youth highlight regional progress at Basilan gathering

Isabela City, Basilan – The youth council of the Bangsamoro region hosted the Bangsamoro Youth Address event at Farm Land, Isabela City, Basilan, on Saturday, August 12.

The event aimed to shed light on the region’s ongoing programs and projects, showcasing the unity of the youth not only within the Province of Basilan but across the entire Bangsamoro Region.

During the event, MP. Marjanie S. Mimbantas Macasalong, BYC Chairperson, expressed their purpose, stating, “Our visit to Basilan is part of our tour of the island provinces.” The gathering served as a platform to introduce honored guests from the BANGSAMORO REGION, as well as officials from various municipalities, the military, PNP, and other partner agencies who have been steadfast supporters of youth initiatives.

The event highlighted the unity and commitment of the Bangsamoro youth to promote peace, development, and education in the region. It also provided insight into previously executed projects and ongoing initiatives, allowing attendees to engage in meaningful discussions about key issues.

Basilan Youth Council President Hamdie Tanjil emphasized the importance of the gathering in conveying the aspirations of the youth directly to the implementing committee of the Bangsamoro Government. Tanjil stated, “We are not an implementing agency, but a coordinating body for policy-making.” The organization’s focus on policy-making aims to shape the future trajectory of youth in Basilan.

Residents of Basilan welcomed the presence of representatives from the Bangsamoro Government, the Bangsamoro Youth Council Chairperson, and officials from various municipalities and partner agencies. The event showcased unity and a shared vision among the youth, reaffirming their commitment to fostering peace, progress, and education in the Bangsamoro.
