BARMM investigates alleged sale of plantilla items for teachers   item sale

DAVAO CITY—The Bangsamoro Government initiated a probe into the allegations that teachers applying for plantilla jobs have to allegedlty pay up to P300,000 to get the item.

Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal has announced the formation of a special committee to investigate the alleged scheme.

“To address this issue,  MBHTE has created a special committee to look into these allegations and ferret out the truth inside and outside the office. It is prohibited in Islamic teaching this kind of issue,” stated Iqbal.

Iqbal emphasized the Government of the Day’s commitment to dealing with any official, personnel, or school division staff found to be involved in unlawful activities related to this issue.

Iqbal stressed stringent measures will be taken against those implicated.

He also urged individuals with complaints to provide solid evidence for a proper and legal investigation process, discouraging the use of social media for such matters.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) employed 968 teaching and non-teaching personnel across Lanao del Sur (LDS) I and II, Sulu school divisions, including 16 individuals from the regional staff took their oaths on October 2 in the Cotabato State University gym.

Iqbal said the appointments made were devoid of bias and followed a stringent and transparent recruitment processes.

“The Bangsamoro’s education ministry is very competitive in hiring its teaching personnel. It goes to rigorous processes including applicant’s educational background, eligibility, work experiences as well as their training,” Iqbal said in a video message to new hires.

“The MBHTE leadership is not tolerating biases and those prohibited in Islamic teaching.  We always consider transparency with the guidance of Moral Governance,” he added.

The newly appointed personnel consist of 284 elementary and secondary teachers assigned to LDS I; 177 elementary and secondary teachers alongside eight PARA teachers for LDS II; 409 elementary and secondary teachers; and 71 school principals designated for Sulu; with an additional 19 regional personnel.
