COTABATO CITY (November 21) – Top officials of the Bangsamoro region have thrown their full support behind President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s sweeping crackdown on corruption, calling his latest actions “decisive steps that protect communities and rebuild trust in government.”

In a joint statement Thursday, BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua and the governors of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, and Tawi-Tawi said the President’s creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure and freeze orders on assets linked to anomalous flood-control projects show “clarity, resolve, and real governance at work.”

“The Bangsamoro government stands with President Marcos in this campaign, united in the belief that honest governance is the foundation of peace, development, and a better future for all Filipinos,” the officials said.

The statement — signed by Basilan Governor Mujiv Hataman, Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong, Maguindanao del Norte Governor Tucao Mastura, Maguindanao del Sur Governor Ali Midtimbang, and Tawi-Tawi Governor Yshmael Sali — praised the President for directing agencies to recover stolen public funds and ensure cases are built on “strong, irrefutable evidence.”

“These firm, deliberate, and measurable actions reflect a leadership focused not on spectacle but on real governance,” they added, noting that rooting out corruption strengthens public institutions and directly benefits communities long affected by stalled or substandard projects.

For Bangsamoro officials, backing the nationwide anti-corruption effort is also an affirmation of the region’s own push for transparent and accountable governance — a key pillar in sustaining peace and development gains in Mindanao.
