November 22, 2022, the Provincial Government of Basilan received a Galing Pook Award from Malacañang, in recognition of innovative practices in peace and security in the Province.

The Galing Pook awards were launched on October 21, 1993, as a pioneering program that seeks and recognizes innovative practices in local government.

The Galing Pook Awards are given to local governments that pass the qualifications sought by the national government and pass a multilevel rigorous screening process based on positive results and impact, promotion of people’s participation, and providing power, innovation, and adaptation, resilience, sustainability, and efficiency in providing program services and transferability.

In addition to giving recognition as the Galing Pook Award, the local governments that received the prestigious recognition will be a model for other local government units in good management to provide a useful strategy to find new solutions to solve problems in governance.

“And all the aforementioned qualifications have been created and verified in the Province of Basilan, which is why it deserves this award,” Hataman said.

Hataman Salliman placed a marker at the Government Center in Santa Clara so that the people can see the result of the unity of all in achieving the development of the Province of Basilan.
