Big ticket projects in DavNor does not have fund

DAVAO CITY — Two big ticket projects in the province of Davao del Norte have caused monstrous traffic and claimed lives as the project remained unfinished and have paused hazard among motorists, numerous road accidents and claimed lives.

Worse, some funds were released almost a year after the request which resulted to insufficiency since damaged has widened when the fund became available.

One case at point is the Panabo City-Tagum City circumferential road known as Tadeco road, which involves one kilometer mostly with pot holes.

On Maundy Thursday, teacher Ronalyn Casakit and her husband Chito died due to road accident as a speeding pick up truck swerved to their direction as it counterflow and encroached the to avoid the pot holes along the stretch of the Tadeco road.

Dean Ortiz, the spokesperson of the Department of Public Works and Highways XI (DPWH-XI) told Newsline “We asked for P20.06 million budget to repair the damaged road portion in October 2020 but the fund was released only in August 2021. When the fund was available it is no longer enough to cover the damaged portion .”

As it is now, the road is unfinished and still awaiting for the 2022 budget for the total road rehabilitation.
