DAVAO CITY — Governor Corazon Malanyaon is supporting the move of the public utility jitney operators from the towns of Davao Oriental to secure an accredition before the Land Transporation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Governor Malanyaon together with the officials of the LTFRB had a meeting on Monday to thresh out the mechanics and document needed for the accredition of the drivers, operators, and dispatchers from various transportation associations who provide service to the residents of Baganga-Cateel-Davao.
The group wants to be properly accredited and legitimized, a reason why they asked the government to help them secure a franchise before the LTFRB and the LTO.
The Governor told the group that the provincial government is on them as she wants the group to get organized and acquire a franchise to legitimize their operations and aboveall to legally service not only the residents but also the tourists.
“Next year, I’m sure, sisikat ang turismo ng Davao Oriental,” shared her vision, as she wants the frontliners to professionalized the industry and the big step is securing a franchise.
According to Malanyaon “We need to be ready and all stakeholders in the tourism industry must collaborate and work for the common good to provide best service to our people and our tourists.”
The provincial government is banking on the varied tourism destinations of Davao Oriental which showcases a varied culture and practices of the Mandaya among others.-Editha Z. Caduaya
