CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Shape up or ship out! this was the stern warning of Mayor Rolando Uy to the 699 “ambulant” vendors whom he recently transfered to another space.
This as the city governmetn started to relocate the vendors on Thursday, November 24, which comprise the fruits, vegetables vendor, barbewue, balut and “kwek-kwek: vendors who got their new space in Osmeña St. through a raffle while those who have their own carts were transfered to Guillermo-JR Borja Street.
He urged the vendors to to follow the laws, policies and regulations of the local government or face the risk of getting banned from selling their stuff in all public markets forever.
The chief executive conducted a series of meetings among vendors in an effort to explain to them the policies and regulations of the city’s economic enterprise.
The night market team of the city government expects the vendors to abide with the agreement and follow the rules Nasayran nga ang mga mamaligyaay sa prutas ug utanon diha gipahimutang sa dalan Osmeña, samtang ang foodcart anaa giplastar sa dalan Guillermo-JR Borja.
On Friday, November 25, the vendors of used clothing or ukay-ukay, RTW, shoes, food condiments, cellphone accessories, facemask, and other stuff wiwere transfer.
Uy asked for understanding from the vendors, as he hope that they will take the opportunity offered to them as they exists without permits.
In a statement he said “Don’t throw this opportunity away. If you can’t follow the laws and would make disharmony, then I would no longer allow you to sell again.”
On Thursday, the local government started transferring ambulant vendors to designated locations near the Cogon Public Market.
For a time, vendors who have no stalls in the Cogon market sell their goods around the marketplace building, with temporary approval from the city government from 5 p.m. onwards.. –Bobby Lagsa
