China to send doctors, health experts to PH

DAVAO CITY — The Chinese government will be sending a team of doctors and medical experts to help the country in the fight against the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19)  pandemic. This, after the rapid increase of coronavirus cases in the country.

But DOH says the spike is prompted by the increase in the release of text results driver by the supply of test kits which recently arrived from various donor countries.

In a statement, the Embassy said Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian spoke with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III over the phone to discuss the details of the cooperation in the effort to mitigate the spread of the virus that originated from Wuhan in Hubei Province.

The statement stressed the  Chinese government will dispatch the Chinese medical expert team to the Philippines “upon the request of the Philippine government”.

“The main task of the medical expert team is to help the Philippines fight against Covid-19 by providing technical advice on epidemic prevention and control as well as sharing medical treatment experience,” the Chinese Embassy in Manila said in a statement.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, for his part, pledged that the Department of Health would coordinate with the Embassy to facilitate and assure the work of the medical expert team goes smoothly.

Huang and Duque discussed the latest cooperation details over the phone on Monday.

Philippines Ambassador to Beijing Jose Santiago Sta. Romana earlier said the medical team composed of Chinese doctors and experts on COVID-19 will be dispatched to Manila “soon.”

Beijing has earlier donated more than 100,000 test kits for Covid-19 as well as various essential medical supplies to the Philippine.-NewsLine
