CJ De Castro asks PNP to investigate the killing of Judge Pintac

DAVAO CITY (October 9) –— Retiring Chief Justice Teresita Leonardo-de Castro called on the Philippine National Police (PNP) to dig deeper and give justice over the death of Ozamiz City Executive Judge Edmundo Pintac on Monday afternoon.

In a statement, De Castro said ā€œI’m calling on the Philippine National Police to exert all means and efforts to apprehend the perpetrators at the soonest possible time. I have also instructed the court administrator toĀ  coordinate with all law enforcement officers to bring to justice those responsible for this crime. Our prayers and sympathies go out to the family of Judge Pintac. May they find strength in this
moment of grief.ā€

PintacĀ  was ambushedĀ  in Purok 2-B Brgy. Banadero, Ozamiz City by four armed men on board motorcycles.

His bodyguard wasĀ  not with him because his escort is only limited up to the court.

Supt. Surki SereƱas, police regional spokesperson, said Judge Edmundo Pintac, Pintac was shot to death at around 4:20 p.m.

Senior Superintendent Emmanuel Hebron, Misamis Occidental provincial police director, said they are still investigating the motive of the killing.

In August 2017, Pintac denied the request of Vice Mayor Nova Parojinog to attend the burial of his father, then Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and his wife Susan.
