COTABATO CITY — Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim appointed on April 17 former Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forves (BIAF) spokesperson Abunawas “Von Al Haq” Maslamama as new senior minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The appointment of Maslamama came after Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua vacated his post as senior minister as he was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the Officer-In-Charge of the province of Maguindanao del Norte.

The role of Maslamama as senior minister is to oversee the operations of all ministries, offices, and agencies in the region.

Maslamama said that Ebrahim requested him to take on the position to which he gladly accepted.  Before Maslamama’s recent appointment, he held such positions as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC).

He shared that he sees his appointment as a big challenge, as it is his first time experiencing this kind of role.

“I assure the public that I and my team will work hard to fulfill our duties, and support the Office of the Chief Minister in promoting Moral Governance,” Maslamama said.

“This is a big challenge for me because it’s the first time I’ve experienced it. But I am trying my very best, hopefully, to accomplish our task,” Maslamama said.

Maslamama plans to work closely with his colleagues in the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) to ensure the effective implementation of programs.

“One person cannot do this alone. For me, teamwork is essential. That’s the reason why there is a team. Each has its own role in the direction of our government,” Maslamama said.

“We will look and study the progress of the office. I will invite my co-employees/workers with me so that we can tackle and discuss and implement productively what is the program of our Chief Minister,” Maslamama added.

As one of the executive officials of BARMM, Maslamama committed to upholding the Government of the Day’s Moral Governance.

“Rest assured that all programs of the Office of the Chief Minister towards moral governance, we fully support that,” Maslamama said.

Maslamama used to be the former spokesperson of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF), the armed wing of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF). He was also the former head of the MILF’s Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH), a senior member of the General Staff of the BIAF, as well as co-chair of the Joint Peace and Security Committee (JPSC) for the GPH-MILF.
