COTABATO CITY — Health officials in Maguindanao have referred the case of the recent birth of conjoined twins to modern hospitals in Davao City and Manila.

As twin quakes also occurred in Mindanao this week, Dr. Elizabeth Samama, Maguindanao health chief, confirmed Friday the birth via a cesarean section of conjoined twins, the first-ever of such case in the province, on the night of Oct. 28, 2019, in Rajah Buayan town.

The female twins with two heads in one body are now under the care of the Maguindanao Provincial Hospital in Sharif Aguak town of the same province.

She said they are currently referring the case to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) in Davao City and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) in Manila.

“The SPMC and PGH have modern facilities and specialists to attend to such cases,” Samama said.

Samama had also appealed to both charitable institutions and to the public to help assist the babies who are from a poor family.

Samama said the twins remain in stable condition as of this posting. -PNA
