DAVAO CITY  – Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar on Sunday ordered members of his organization to stay away from partisan politics and must remain loyal to the country and the Constitution.

Eleazar vowed to impose sanctions on any of his members who will be found violating his order.

In a 52-second video message posted on the official Facebook page of the PNP, Eleazar emphasized that as long as he sits as Chief PNP “I will do everything in my power to make sure that the organization will be shielded from partisan politics. therefore I am warning all our personnel not to meddle in political activities or do things that can be misconstrued as an expression of support to any candidate, mananagot sa akin ang sino mang makisawsaw sa politika sa aming hanay (those who will dip into politics from our ranks will be made answerable).”

Eleazar said the 222,000 PNP personnel must be loyal to the country and the Constitution.

Earlier on, Chief Eleazar ordered an aggressive campaign against loose firearms and private armed groups as part of early security preparations to ensure the peaceful, honest, and orderly conduct of the national and local elections on May 9, 2022.

The filing of certificates of candidacy started on October 1 and will end at midnight on October 8, 2021.
