COTABATO – The fervor of the Kalivungan Festival illuminated the Provincial Capitol Grandstand in Amas, Kidapawan City, as the event kicked off on the morning of August 25.
Drums, lyres, and cheers echoed throughout the city as spectators joined in the festivities, which marked the commencement of the week-long celebration of the province’s 109th anniversary. The Kalivungan Festival, a symbol of unity, diversity, and heritage, has indeed begun.
Delegates from municipalities like Carmen, Libungan, Makilala, Pigcawayan, Midsayap, and Tulunan showcased their remarkable talents in dancing and instrumental performances. Their vibrant presentations showcased the rich cultural tapestry of the province.
In addition to the captivating performances, the Kalivungan Tiangge also graced the celebration. Spearheaded by Governor Emmylou Lala Taliño-Mendoza, the tiangge was attended by provincial government officials, department heads, and Capitol employees. Held at The Basket in Kidapawan City, the tiangge featured the Kalivungan Tiangge 2023 Agro Fair, MSMEs and Tourist Expo, Travel Fair, and Coop Exhibit.
