Customs uncovers P2.5-M marijuana declared as denim jeans

DAVAO CITY —The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Clark on Wednesday said it confiscated over PHP2 million worth of “kush” or high-grade marijuana in a shipment declared as denim jeans.

District collector Lawyer Elvira Cruz, of BOC-Port of Clark in a statement said her agency uncovered 1,514 grams of kush marijuana worth PHP2.498 million through its border security measures.

The examination and seizure were conducted last May 15 but the agency released the press statement only on Wednesday.

During the inspection, “three jog-sealed bags containing dried leaves and fruiting tops” were discovered.

The statement added that a warrant of seizure and detention against the shipment for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act with the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2000 has been issued.
