DAVAO CITY (May 28) – In a move to further strengthen its public service and emergency response capabilities, the Davao City Government formally turned over 22 new vehicles and various rescue equipment during a blessing and ceremonial handover on Wednesday, May 28.

The newly acquired assets are currently undergoing inspection and commissioning before being deployed to key departments and frontline responders.

Among the highlights of the acquisition are:

  • City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO): Rubber boat, life detector, portable power stations, 120 helmets with headlamps, ladders, and hydraulic rescue tools.
  • City Engineer’s Office (CEO): Four emergency response vehicles.
  • Bureau of Fire Protection – Davao City Fire District: Four fire trucks and one incident command vehicle.
  • Philippine Coast Guard – Davao Station: One pick-up truck and one patient transport vehicle.
  • Task Force Davao: Six mobile emergency units and two pick-up trucks.
  • City Agriculturist’s Office: Two farm tractors for agricultural support.

These additions are expected to enhance the city’s operational readiness and improve services, including disaster response, firefighting, coastal security, and rural development.

This latest batch of assets follows the city’s turnover of 38 emergency vehicles in late 2023. Earlier this year, Central 911 earned national recognition by being inducted into the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council’s (NDRRMC) Hall of Fame during the 22nd Gawad KALASAG Awards, honoring its consistent excellence in emergency response.

City officials highlighted the importance of equipping local responders with state-of-the-art tools to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of Dabawenyos.
