Davao City Coastal Road implements new vehicle restrictions

DAVAO CITY – In a recent public advisory, the Davao City government has announced new vehicle restrictions that will be enforced on the Davao City Coastal Road starting today, July 19, 2023. These restrictions aim to regulate the types of vehicles allowed to pass through the said road for safety and traffic management purposes.

Under the new guidelines, the following vehicles are ALLOWED to pass through the Davao City Coastal Road:

• Vehicles weighing 4.5 tons or 4,500 kilograms below, including six-wheeler vehicles such as mini vans, mini cargo trucks, mini dump trucks, and meat delivery trucks.
• Government-owned or private trucks operated by DPWH contractors currently engaged in the construction of the Davao City Coastal Road.
• Government-owned garbage trucks or government-contracted garbage trucks assigned to collection points in the Dumalag area.
• Fire trucks, government-owned or private towing trucks, and private utility trucks responding to emergencies.
• Armored trucks of banks and financial institutions.

On the other hand, the following vehicles are NOT ALLOWED to pass through the Davao City Coastal Road:

• Vehicles or trucks weighing more than 4.5 tons or 4,500 kilograms.
• Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) such as buses, jeepneys, and L-300 vans.
• Tricycles and trisikads.
• All vehicles covered by the existing truck ban, including those that are exempted.

These new regulations have been put in place to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians using the Davao City Coastal Road. By restricting access to vehicles beyond a certain weight limit and prohibiting certain types of public transportation, the city government aims to manage traffic flow more effectively and prevent potential road accidents.
