DAVAO CITY (june 27) –The Davao City Council in a special session on Monday approved the PHP1.2 billion supplemental budget of the city government.
Bulk of the fund will be used for various projects under the City Mayor’s Office and the City Health Office.
Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag said the funds will be sourced from the accumulated surplus funds, various reversions of appropriations and unappropriated balance during the last three years.
Finance, Ways and Means Committee chairperson Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang, revealed 70 percent of the funds, or PHP848.889 million, will go to the general fund.
The fund will also augment the salary and other personnel benefits adjustment of the city employees, as the Third Tranche of the salary schedule dated January 3, 2018 is in effect.
As outlined, the development fund is set at PHP336.305 million for infrastructure (PHP185.534 million) and non-infrastructure projects (PHP150.77 million).
Under the non-infrastructure projects are social development with PHP11.977 million, economic development PHP25.481 million, environmental development PHP803,250, and development administration PHP112.507 million.
Projects under infrastructure programs are road development program with PHP5.909 million, building and structure PHP126.275 million, drainage program PHP10.250 million and bridge program PHP43.1 million.
Economic enterprises will also get PHP21.478 million from the budget which will be spent for the operations of markets, slaughterhouses, cemeteries, Davao City Recreation Center, Magsaysay Park and Pasalubong Center.
Al-Ag said the budget is intended to improve the services of the city and the implementation of major projects and augmentation of funds for some unfinished projects.
For Calendar year 2018, the city government operates with PHP7.639-billion, added to this is the P1.2-billion supplemental budget.-Jiann A. Padillo/NewsLine.ph
