DAVAO CITY (September 24) – The local government, in partnership with national agencies, inaugurated on Monday the city’s first-ever Senior Citizen Community Care Center, a facility designed to provide health care, wellness programs, livelihood training, and access to government services for the elderly.

Located at Block 3, Rojo-Aqua Street, Dacoville Subdivision in Dumoy, the center was formally opened through a ribbon-cutting and soft launching led by Acting Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) head Lorenzo Borja, and representatives from the National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

NCSC Davao Regional Director Cesar A. Adegue IV said the center will serve as a hub for senior citizens to avail themselves of essential services, from health and wellness programs to social, recreational, and livelihood activities. He emphasized that the facility, the first of its kind in Region XI, shows how collaboration among lawmakers, local government, and the community can lead to initiatives that uplift the elderly.

Borja assured that OSCA will work closely with the NCSC in running programs, with support from the DSWD and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).

In his message, Acting Mayor Duterte highlighted the important role of seniors as community guides and urged them to actively participate in government programs. “You play a big role in guiding families and communities, especially the younger generation, toward goodness and peace,” he said.

He added that the center is part of a long-term effort to strengthen support systems for the elderly, ensuring that future generations of seniors in Davao City will continue to benefit from improved care and services.

For details on the programs offered, residents may contact the OSCA at 241-1000 local 394.
