DAVAO CITY (August 26) — The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, formally launched the “Oplan Eye in the Sky Patrol”, a program that integrates drone technology into law enforcement operations to strengthen public safety and crime prevention.

The initiative was led by Acting DCPO Director PCOL Mannan C. Muarip, together with Police Regional Office 11 (PRO-11) Regional Director PBGEN Joseph R. Arguelles, COL Rodrigo A. Mariñas Jr. (INF) PA, PLtCOL Angel B. Sumagaysay (Ret.) of the PSSO, and 1st District Councilor Luna Maria Dominique S. Acosta.

Guided by the principles of D.A.V.A.O. — Discipline, Action, Virtue, Accountability, and Order, the program aims to boost patrol visibility, improve situational awareness, and provide police with a strategic edge in responding to crimes and emergencies.

During the launch at the DCPO headquarters, police personnel underwent specialized training to maximize drone use in field operations.

“This initiative reflects our commitment to innovation and operational excellence,” PCOL Muarip said. “Through the Eye in the Sky Patrol, we are not just expanding our reach — we are strengthening our capacity to safeguard lives and maintain peace across the city.”

PBGEN Arguelles praised the program, noting that modern policing requires modern tools. “With drone technology, our police force can act with greater precision, efficiency, and professionalism in protecting the public,” he said.

The Oplan Eye in the Sky Patrol underscores DCPO’s commitment to proactive, technology-driven policing and its promise to build a safer and more resilient community for Davaoeños.
