DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The Davao City Police Command is on red alert following the death of Police Staff Sergeant Noel Marundan during an encounter on November 6 in Sitio Allon, Paquibato District.

“We are now on red alert after the incident because we do not know how many people are connected to him,” Acting City Police Director Colonel Hansel Marantan told Newsline Philippines.

Marundan, assigned to the Paquibato Police Precinct, was declared dead upon arrival at the Paquibato District Hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds in the encounter.

On behalf of the Davao City Police, Marantan extended heartfelt condolences to Marundan’s family, honoring him as an exemplary intelligence officer. “His ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty reflects his courage, commitment, and dedication to safeguarding our community,” Marantan stated.

Marundan was fatally shot while engaged in an operation against Nestor Dabawnon Ansayod, also known as “Osie,” a fugitive and former Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) member with a record of serious crimes. Despite the risks, Marundan bravely confronted the dangerous suspect, embodying the spirit of a true public servant.

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) mourns this profound loss, honoring Marundan as a hero whose legacy of service and valor inspires them all. “We remain resolute in our mission to protect Davao City and uphold peace and justice in his memory,” Marantan added.
