DAVAO CITY (August 19) – Davao City has been ranked the third safest city in Southeast Asia in the 2025 Numbeo Safety Index, scoring 71.5 points.

Acting Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director PCOL Mannan Caracas Muarip expressed pride in the recognition, noting that it affirms the city’s reputation as a safe and secure community. He attributed the achievement to the united efforts of law enforcement and the active participation of Dabawenyos.

The Numbeo Safety Index evaluates cities worldwide based on crime rates, police efficiency, and residents’ sense of security in daily life. Only cities with sufficient contributors are included, making Davao’s placement both a reflection of public perception and a testament to its peace and order situation.

Local authorities cited community engagement, proactive policing, extensive surveillance, and sustained monitoring programs as key to strengthening Davao’s security framework. These measures, implemented in line with Philippine National Police directives, have significantly contributed to the city’s safety.

PCOL Muarip emphasized that the recognition is not only a success for the police force but also for the entire community. “This is a shared achievement of every Dabawenyo,” he said, urging residents to continue supporting the DCPO and its law enforcement partners to ensure an even safer future.
