DAVAO CITY, January 29— The Sunday bombings in Mt. Carmel Cathedral in  Jolo, Sulu prompted the city security office to review and enhance its security plan.

Retired Major General Benito de Leon, chief of the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) the need to review the security arrangement in the city following the twin explosions which left 20 fatalities and 111 wounded.

The Philippine Information Agency here reported, that De Leon revealed the need tore view the safety and security cluster of the city with the Police Regional Office XI, Eastern Mindanao Command and the 10th Infantry Division are assessing the situation with the objective not to allow any explosion in the region’s area of responsibility.

De Leon assured the residents of the city that the safety and security cluster is doing its best to protect the citizenry from harm.

The need to install closed-circuit television cameras in public places  and in places of worship is necessary.

“We need to detect any plot or threat even before they can enter any place of convergence,” De Leon stressed.

But he emphasized  “The city does not rely on CCTV cameras, we have people to rely on.”

“The CCTV cameras can be an added help for crime detection, and they can also help the police in assessing any after-activity evaluation for any investigation that will follow,” he said.

The Jolo bombing according to De Leon, should serve as a wake up call to all law enforcers and security agencies to review their security plan.

Intelligence gathering should be enhanced and coordination among agencies is necessary in crafting a good security plan, but the community remains the best toll in information gathering.-NewsLine.ph with report from Joey Sem G. Dalumpines-PIA XI
