DAVAO CITY — The city government here is on the final stretch of preparations for the most anticipated 2019 Pasko Fiesta celebration, which is slated to open on Nov. 22 at the City Hall grounds.

With a budget of about PHP22 million, the theme for this year’s event will be “Santa’s Toy Factory”.

Gene Rose Tecson, head of the City Tourism Operation Office (CTOO), said the opening of Pasko Fiesta is the grandest of the major events here to usher in the month-long celebration of Christmas.

“The most awaited will be the opening. There will be big surprises that the public can enjoy,” she said.

Tecson said Santa’s Toy Factory will bring joy to the Dabawenyos especially the children. Selected areas in the city have been spruced up with gift boxes and robots to follow the theme.

“The mayor wanted to have a toy factory theme because when we remember Christmas, we remember the joyful smiles of the children every time they receive gifts,” she said.

Tecson also enjoined Dabawenyos to join the opening day program as well as the other Pasko Fiesta activities such as the Pasko Fiesta Carnival at the Rizal Park, meet and greet Mr. Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Magsaysay Park, People’s Park, and Osmeña Park, the Pahalipay ni Santa, the nightly 3D Wall Mapping Show starting on November 22, Pasko Fiesta Salu-Salo at the Sta. Ana Wharf, the Pasko Daba-Daba, the Sayaw sa Pasko Fiesta Dance competition, Hulagway Sa Pasko Fiesta 2019 Pasko Photo Exhibit, Lamdag Parada, Pasko Kumbira sa City Hall, and the Koro sa Pasko on December 5 at the Cap Auditorium.

“Most of the major activities in this year’s Pasko Fiesta will be celebrated at the Sta. Ana Pier to avoid road closures,” she added.
