Cops arrest rape suspect who went into hiding for 15 years

ILIGAN CITY —– After 15 years, the man who was accused of raping a minor was finally arrested on Sunday at around 7a.m, November 17, in Barangay Tangueguiron, Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

Major Jerome Villegas, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Lanao del Norte Provincial Field Unit, identified the suspect as Allan Lobeban, a truck driver, who was charged of raping a minor in 2005.

Lobeban, 41, a resident of Barangay Tubod, Iligan City was driving the truck en route to Cagayan de Oro City when he was arrested by virtue of arrest warrant issued by Judge Dennis Vicoy of Regional Trial Court Branch 7 in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The suspect who was 26 years old when the crime was allegedly committed against a 16 year old girl.

Villegas said Lobebon claimed that the complaint was his girlfriend but could no longer remember the name because it happened long ago.

The complainant is now married to another man.

The suspect is now in the custody of the CIDG and will be turned to court on Monday.-Divina M. Suson
