DAVAO CITY (June 29)-The Philippine Embassy in Israel has received overwhelming praise from Filipino community leaders and organizations for its swift and compassionate action during the recent Iran-Israel conflict.

Among those who commended the embassy was Winston Santos, head of the organization HAMERCAZ LE FILIPINIM. In a statement issued on June 27, Santos described the embassy’s efforts as the “fastest and most heartfelt response” he has seen in any crisis.

“We extend our deep gratitude and salute to the Philippine Embassy in Israel for its immediate and decisive action in addressing the urgent needs of Filipinos affected by the war,” said Santos.

Under the leadership of Ambassador Aileen Mendiola, Consul General Anthony Mandap, and Migrant Workers Office Attaché Rodolfo Gabasan, the embassy initiated critical interventions, including emergency relocation, medical assistance for the injured, and the repatriation of at least 26 Filipinos via Jordan. Additional support continues to be extended to other affected workers based on safety and humanitarian needs.

Each Filipino directly affected received $200 in cash aid, while psychosocial support was also made available through trained mental health professionals. The embassy is further coordinating with authorities in the United Arab Emirates and Thailand to assist Filipinos who are stranded and seeking to return to Israel.

Santos also praised the visible presence of Ambassador Mendiola in conflict-hit areas, which he said boosted the morale of Filipino workers. “Her leadership inspired the entire embassy team to remain present and proactive during the most critical moments,” he added.

The embassy’s actions have been widely described by Filipinos in Israel as “swift, humane, and sincere from the heart.”
