Police officer shot dead by mother-in-law in Sultan Kudarat

DAVAO CITY (June 30) — A police officer was shot and killed by his mother-in-law following a heated domestic dispute late Wednesday night in Barangay Poblacion, President Quirino town.

Town police chief Major Aljun Besario identified the victim only as Police Staff Sergeant “Boy,” 37, a member of the President Quirino Municipal Police Station and a resident of the area.

Initial reports revealed that the incident began as a verbal altercation between the officer and his wife, which quickly escalated into a physical struggle over a firearm. The wife reportedly managed to seize the weapon from her husband and handed it to her mother, who was present at the time.

Moments later, as the officer walked into their garage, he was followed by his wife and mother-in-law. It was there that the mother-in-law allegedly shot him in the abdomen. The bullet exited through his back.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The suspect is now in the custody of the President Quirino PNP. Major Besario confirmed that a full investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances and motive behind the fatal shooting.

The local police force is mourning the loss of Staff Sgt. “Boy,” who had received several commendation medals throughout his career for exemplary service and dedication to duty.
