MANILA (September 6) — The southwest monsoon or Habagat will continue to affect Luzon and the Visayas, bringing occasional to scattered rains and thunderstorms over several areas, PAGASA said Sunday.
Occasional rains are expected in Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro, while Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Visayas, Mimaropa, Rizal, Laguna, and Antique may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.
PAGASA warned that flash floods and landslides are possible in areas affected by moderate to heavy rainfall. Residents, particularly those in flood- and landslide-prone areas, are advised to remain alert and monitor local weather advisories.
The rest of Luzon and the Visayas, as well as Mindanao, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm KROVANH (formerly PILANDOK) was located 875 kilometers northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon and was moving east-southeastward at 10 km/h. It has maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 80 km/h.
KROVANH remains outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is not expected to directly affect the country at present.
PAGASA also forecast moderate to strong winds over extreme northern Luzon, with coastal waters expected to be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will generally experience light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.
