Davao Light highlights safety excellence in contractors’ appreciation night

March 13, 2025 by Branded content

DAVAO CITY—Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) recognized the invaluable contributions of its contracted service partners during the Contractors’ Appreciation Night (CAN) in February 2025. Now in its ninth year, the event celebrated partners’ commitment to safety, service excellence, and innovation.

The 22 partner companies play a critical role in ensuring reliable power distribution by providing services such as: Emergency outage response, Safety audits and line hazard surveys, Substation and power line maintenance, Streetlight, fiber optic cable, and meter maintenance, BD Construction of lines and digital substations.

These partners also collaborate with local government units (LGUs) on key projects such as underground cabling, LED street lighting, and implementing the Anti-Spaghetti Wire Ordinance.

“Our partners are key in Davao Light’s mission of delivering safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Through this event, we honor and celebrate them for excelling in service delivery and safety practices,” said Davao Light President and COO Enriczar Tia.

Recognizing Excellence in Safety and Service, Davao Light comprehensively evaluated its service partners’ 2024 performance, assessing work execution, behavioral and safety performance, and financial and statutory compliance.

As part of this initiative, outstanding companies and individuals were recognized for their exceptional safety practices and commitment to excellence.

  • LLM Unified Builders and Trading Corporation was recognized for innovation in enhancing safety information materials, making them more impactful and effective.
  • LSB Electrical Services Corporation was awarded for its integrity in fostering accountability and workplace safety culture after reporting a near-miss incident.
  • Power Service Electric Corporation (PSECO) was honored for service excellence. During Typhoon Pepito (November 2024), it provided manpower support to assist Subic EnerZone, another AboitizPower distribution utility.
  • SG Robert Temporado of Arsenal Security Agency, Inc. and Ranieto Sumalinog of ACAA, Inc. received the Lifesaver Award for their quick response in saving a life during a safety hazard situation.

“While indispensable, electricity demands proper handling, as its misuse can lead to harm. We are intensifying our efforts toward a safe workplace for our personnel and contractors. Our goal is to ensure that everyone goes home to their families safe and sound,” added Tia.

As a subsidiary of AboitizPower, Davao Light continues to advance businesses and communities by implementing innovative, safety-driven solutions. The company remains committed to enhancing the safety, security, and development of its franchise areas, which cover Davao City, Panabo City, and the municipalities of Carmen, Dujali, and Sto. Tomas.

The Contractors’ Appreciation Night serves as a testament to Davao Light’s unwavering dedication to safety and operational excellence. It ensures that partnerships with service providers contribute to a safer, more efficient power distribution network.
