Davao region, most of Mindanao still under MGCQ-AITF

July 16, 2020 by NewsLine Philippines

DAVAO CITY  — Cities and provinces in the Davao region are still under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) but fall under the moderate risk status until July 31.

This, after the Inter-Agency Task Force of Emerging Infectious Diseases during the televised meeting on Wednesday night with President Rodrigo Duterte reviewed and agreed on the quarantine status of various localities in the country.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said despite the relaxed quarantine status, everyone is compelled to follow health protocol to prevent the transmission of coronavirus-19.

Duterte placed Cebu City under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting July 16.

The rest of the community quarantine designation across the country are as follows:

GCQ

  • National Capital Region
  • Laguna
  • Cavite
  • Rizal
  • Lapu Lapu City
  • Mandaue City
  • Ormoc City
  • Southern Leyte
  • Zamboanga City
  • Butuan City
  • Agusan del Norte
  • Basilan
  • Talisay
  • Minglanilla
  • Consolacion

In Mindanao, the following provinces and cities have been relaxed to MGCQ status:

Region IX

  • Zamboanga del Sur
  • Zamboanga Sibugay
  • Zamboanga del Norte

Region X

  • Misamis Occidental
  • Bukidnon
  • Lanao del Norte
  • Cagayan de Oro City
  • Iligan City

Region XI

  • Davao Oriental
  • Davao del Norte
  • Davao del Sur
  • Davao de Oro
  • Davao City

Region XII

  • Sultan Kudarat
  • Cotabato
  • South Cotabato
  • General Santos City

Region XIII

  • Agusan del Sur
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur

BARMM

  • Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao.

Those not mentioned under the MGCQ moderate-risk, fall under the MGCQ low-risk areas.

Before the Wednesday night announcement, residents of Davao City feared that the city might be reverted back to General Community Quarantine status as they noticed the spike of positive cases since July 1, as the region opened its doors to the locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and the Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF), which came home under the Hatid Probinsya program.

Many of the LSIs and ROFs have been tested positive of coronavirus-19, a reason why some LGUs asked the IATF to temporarily suspend the program, citing the absence of additional isolation facility as their existing facility is now fully occupied.

Under the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases’ Resolution No. 41, the MGCQ status allows everyone to leave their homes provided they wear face masks and practice physical distancing among other health and safety precautions.

Minimum public health standards refer to guidelines set by the Department of Health (DOH) and sector-relevant guidelines issued by the government agencies to aid all sectors in implementing non-pharmaceutical interventions to reduce transmission of COVID-19.

On Monday, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said the local government would appeal the reversion but would respect the decision of the national body.

Last night, the Mayor’s appeal was apparently approved as the IATF during the meeting agreed that Davao City and the rest of Davao region will remain under MGCQ.-EZC/Newsline.ph
