DAVAO ORIENTAL (November 9) — Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang has been named chair of the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) in Davao Region for 2025–2028.

The appointment, approved by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and announced by DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, puts Dayanghirang in charge of steering peace and security coordination across the region.

As RPOC chair, he will lead joint efforts of the PNP, AFP, NICA, and local governments to tackle crime, insurgency, and other threats to community safety.

The Davao Oriental provincial government hailed the move as recognition of Dayanghirang’s “unwavering commitment to peace and development.”

Dayanghirang, a long-time peace advocate, is expected to push programs that sustain Davao’s hard-won peace and drive inclusive growth.
