COTABATO CITY (November 10) — Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua has won the full support of five provincial governors in the Bangsamoro region, reassuring residents amid the extended transition of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) until the first parliamentary elections next year.

In a joint statement, governors Mujiv Hataman (Basilan), Mamintal Adiong Jr. (Lanao del Sur), Tucao Mastura (Maguindanao del Norte), Ali Midtimbang (Maguindanao del Sur), and Yshmael Sali (Tawi-Tawi) praised Macacua’s “steady and inclusive leadership,” saying it has strengthened cooperation, unity, and progress across the BARMM.

“His dedication to good governance and close collaboration with local governments has inspired us to work together for the continued development of our people,” the governors said, urging the Bangsamoro community to unite behind the region’s pursuit of genuine autonomy.

Macacua took over last March after the resignation of then-Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim. The BTA will remain in a holdover capacity until the first elected BARMM parliament takes office no later than March 31, 2026, as set by the Supreme Court.

The governors emphasized that their support reflects a commitment to sustaining peace, stability, and growth in the Bangsamoro, signaling continuity and confidence in the region’s leadership during the transition.
