Dayanghirang condemns brutal killing of village chief

DAVAO CITY — Davao Oriental Governor Nelson Dayanghirang condemns the brutal killing of a village chief who was murdered inside his house in Mati City on Wednesday night.

Matiao Barangay Captain Ronnie Valera was killed by still unidentified gunmen inside his house.

He sustained a gunshot wound on his head and two on his chest.

In his official statement released on Thursday, Dayanghirang called one authorities to dig deeper into Valera’s death so that justice will be served. “Atong gipanawagan sa atong mga awtoridad nga tagaan ug lalom nga imbestigasyon ang mga sirkumstansiya sa iyang pagkamatay aron dali-daling maparusahan ang sad-an ug makab-ot sa iyang pamilya ang ginadahom nga hustisya.”

(We called on authorities for a deeper investigation on the circumstance behind his death tp punish the perpetrators and for his family to get justice.”

He described Valera as a true leader who look after his people “When he served as barangay Captain of Matiao, he did his best to improve the lives of his people and ensure that the village was in order.”

The death of Valera, according to Dayanghirang is a big loss, as he contributed a lot to the development of the province.

The office of the governor and the entire province, he said, mourn the untimely death of Valera.

He also called on the people to reflect on the sanctity of life a way of observing the Holy Week.-PTP/Newsline
