Dead Dolphin found in Surigao Sur town

DAVAO CITY — – A dead striped dolphin was found along the shore in Baybay II, Barangay Magosilom, municipality of Cantilan , Surigao del Sur, Thursday morning, January 2, 2020.

The Dolphin, measuring about 2.18 meters with girth about 60 centimeters, was found by couple Marlito and Maureen Miranda of Linintian, Cantilan town around 6:30 on Thursday.

In a Facebook page managed by the Cantilan Fisheries Pride Campaign (CFPC), it stated that the dolphin endured as traces of wounds were found, the necropsy showed that the stomach was empty.

The CFPC added that they found black blotches on the dead dolphin’s lungs and kidney and concluded that the wounds found were inflicted by another fish locally known as “kome.”

After the necropsy the mammal was buried.
