1 dead, 5 injured in Basilan shooting

One person was killed, and five others injured during a traditional Yakan baptismal ceremony in Lamitan City, Basilan on Friday evening.

Police Lt. Col. Arlan Delumpines, chief of the Lamitan Police Office identified the victim as Amilhasan Ambit Muro, 56, a resident of Sitio Puno Ubag, Barangay Badjah, Tipo-Tpio down.

Five others who attended the event were injured in the shooting including Arham Daang, Hasima Daang, Nurhaina Anong, Salman Marquez and Rahiya Alim.

Four of the five were only minors.

The police identified the suspect as Arman Misa Kahagi, from Barangay Bessey, who has not been scene anywhere after the crime.

According to a report from the Lamitan City Police Station, based on bullets gathered at the crime scene, an M16 armalite rifle was used in the shooting.

A personal grudge is being eyed as a motive of the crime.
