DSWD distributes relief assistance to families affected by flood

DAVAO CITY — The Department of Social Services and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday distributed relief goods to some 2,683 families displaced by flood in Davao de Oro as Shear line continues to affect Davao Region.

The inclement weather condition worsened as northeast monsoon traverse across various provinces in the Davao Region as of presstime.

The Social Services Department through its Disaster Response Management Division, is keeping an eye on the situation as other relief goods have been prepositioned in many local government units.

In anticipation of potential challenges, the Department stands prepared with resources ready for augmentation upon request from affected local government units (LGUs).

As of today, DSWD XI turned over 2,683 family food packs and non-food items in Davao de Oro amounting to Php 1,910,776.00. 

The relentless rainfall overnight has prompted the LGUs to exercise precautionary measures, resulting in the suspension of work and classes at all levels.
