DAVAO CITY, Philippines —  President Rodrigo R. Duterte on Saturday advised his personal security aide to take time with to be with her husband as newly wed couple.

“Marriage is not only about exchanging the sacred vows. It is also about committing a life filled with eternal love and happiness despite all hardships and difficulties,”  Duterte told his  police aide, P/SInsp. Sofia Lauren Deliu, who wed  P/Insp. Abdul-Bassar Abdurajak Saturday, March 10 in  Zamboanga City

Deliu, is one of the  lady Presidential Security Guard (PSG) assigned to Duterte, she was  a Ms. Earth Philippines finalist in 2015.

Talking like a father to the newly wed couple,  Duterte emphasized “Take your time to adapt and know more about one another and accept each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Respect and understand your differences and shortcomings and show the same kind of passion and determination at work as a peace officer in keeping your relationship stronger.”

“Continue to grow as a couple and nurture one another as you bring out the best in each other. Best wishes on this wonderful journey as you start building your new lives together,” Duterte said.

Duterte even advised  Deliu to leave her post in the PSG and find assignment near her husband “Maybe it’s time… for you to leave the PSG and look for an assignment na mas magkita kayo araw-araw. Importante ‘yan,” he said.

“As I’ve told you before, you can choose any assignment where you are nearest to the bridegroom para… well, to be closer together and we can always make arrangements na magkasama kayo, magkalapit lang. Para naman you start your marriage with a companionship that is constant and frequent,” Duterte said.

Duterte wants the couple to be with each other and face the challenge of  a married life together  “At least, after a day’s work magkikita kayo ng beloved mo,” he added.- Editha Z. Caduaya with report from PND
