Duterte attends enthronement of Emperor Naruhito

DAVAO CITY — President Rodrigo Duterte flew to Japan on Monday night to attend the enthronement of new Japanese Emperor Prince Naruhito.

President the city at 6:30 p.m. Monday with a “lean delegation” to attend the historic ceremony on Tuesday.

Senator Bong Go in an interview here on Monday said the president was invited Japanese government to witness the coronation of Prince Naruhito as the new emperor in the said country. 

“That is a rare opportunity to witness kay panagsa lang sila mag ilis og emperor (they rarely change their emperors),” Go said. 

Naruhito will be crowned today October 22, in the presence of dignitaries from over 190 countries. He succeeded Akihito on May 1.-Armando B. Fenequito Jr.
