Lt. Honest Tosoc returns P107k left inside his store

DAVAO CITY — True to his name, retired Army soldier, 2Lt. Honest Tosoc, returned a bag containing P107,000 cash, left by an elderly inside his store Friday evening, October 18, in Barangay Pag-asa, Dumalinao town, Pagadian City.

In an interview with Philippine News Agency, Tosoc said “At first, I was hesitant after seeing a bag, being a former military, I checked it carefully and later assumed that it was left by a student.”

But the following morning, Tosoc said he noticed that the bag still there, which prompted him to open it and he found huge cash inside.

“Sabi ko sa sairili ko, isauli ko ito, pinaghirapan ito ng may-ari, (I told myself, I need to return this, the owner worked for this)” he revealed.

He coordinated with police authorities.

On Monday, they were able to find Diosdado Perater, 76, a resident of barangay Maruing, Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur..

Perater thanked Tosoc for being so honest, he said he forgot where he left his bag which contained the money he earned after selling a portion of his property.

The police and Tosoc’s former colleagues praised him for being honest. They said, the retired officer lived up to his name.
